A Reliable Mentor for the
Teenage Years

Navigating adolescence isn’t easy, especially when facing complex life challenges. Our Big Brother Mentorship program provides teenagers with a positive role model, a safe space to grow, and the empowering guidance they need to build self-esteem while giving families the reliable, side-by-side support they deserve.

What is the Big Brother Mentorship Program?

The teenage years can be overwhelming. When facing trauma, mental health challenges, or psychosocial hurdles, young people don’t need to feel like they are being “managed” or treated as a clinical subject. They need someone they can relate to.

Our Big Brother Mentorship program is built on the foundation of genuine, human connection. We act as a trusted mentor a reliable older sibling figure who provides a safe, judgement-free zone where teenagers can truly be themselves. We aren’t there to dictate their lives; we are there to listen, guide, and help them unlock their own potential.

Simultaneously, we act as a crucial extension of the family. We know that raising a teenager with complex needs can lead to carer burnout. By stepping in as a reliable partner, we help take the pressure off parents and carers, fostering a calmer, more connected household for everyone.

What's Included?

We tailor our approach to suit the unique personality, goals, and interests of every individual. Our mentorship generally includes:

1-on-1 Mentorship & Active Listening

Dedicated time spent building a trusting relationship. We provide a sounding board for their thoughts, frustrations, and ambitions without the pressure of a formal clinical setting.

Community Connection & Transport

We don't just stay in the house. We provide the transport and the confidence-building support needed to get out into the community—whether that’s attending local sports, exploring hobbies, or joining our WinaCare Lifestyle Groups.

Empowering Routine Building

We work side-by-side with the teenager to establish predictable, manageable daily routines that reduce anxiety and bring peace to the home environment.

Practical Life Skills

Gently introducing the skills needed for the future, from understanding basic budgeting and personal care, to navigating tricky social situations and peer relationships.

Family Bridge-Building

Acting as a supportive middle-ground between the teenager and their parents or carers, facilitating open communication and ensuring the whole family feels supported.
